Chronicles of an Emerging Internet Marketer

I have been doing a ton of keyword research lately. Clearly every marketer has a preferred method. I’ll admit, it took me a long time to catch on to how to do keyword research effectively.

When I first built some of my websites, I did not know much about targeting keywords. Now I’m going back and doing some of the research I wish I’d done then, to optimize better and improve my rankings.

By following along with Ed Dale’s 30 Day Challenge, I was introduced to Market Samurai, a brand new keyword research tool. It’s really still very… Continue reading

A couple days ago I participated in an article writing challenge on E1KaD - Earn 1k a Day - “The Best Internet Marketing Forum on the Planet” (see sidebar…). I actually wrote 10 articles, completing my goal. Very gratifying and there is no way I would have done this if I didn’t belong to that forum. I am learning that I can write articles and no longer have to dread the prospect. Very cool.

Other members actually wrote more than 30 articles during the day. Can you believe it? I can’t imagine doing that. But, then… Continue reading

So, what’s going on with the eBay Partner Network?

I’m hearing that they are trimming the number of affiliates in their network and they’re doing this without warning or much explanation. Hm. I’m not sure anyone knows what the criteria are that eBay is using, so many affiliates are pretty scared. Posters on the eBay forum seem to feel pretty angry and pretty helpless. No clear explanation is coming from eBay at all.

Now I have several sites with eBay ads on them and have earned some commission, but nothing breathtaking yet. If they’re going to dump… Continue reading

Okay, so I wrote that using the WordPress Automatic Update plugin was great and the upgrade went smoothly and everything was wonderful.

Well it wasn’t.

Thank goodness I had backups.

When I published a post using WordPress 2.6 my screen went totally white. Same thing for the other blog that I upgraded to 2.6.

So, what do I learn from this?

Restoring a database from cPanel went very smoothly. This was my first experience having to do this and the thought of it had always made me very nervous. Not anymore.

I’m pretty sure the blank screen problem lies with WP 2.6 and not… Continue reading
